State terrorism
Sara Masoumi Twenty-four hours after the assassination of martyr Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, who has been mentioned by the Supreme Leader as a prominent and distinguished nuclear and defense scientist, Iran has been condemning the terrorist attack, calling it a clear violation of international law and an example of terrorism.
While the investigation into this case of terrorist operation continues, the Zionist regime’s fingerprints cannot be ignored. Apart from the Israeli regime’s undeniable record of assassinating Iranian nuclear scientists, political and security evidence also suggests that this operation was led by the Israeli regime and time will help to identify regional or trans-regional partners of Israel in this terrorist operation. In the aftermath of this terrorist attack, Iran began to use all political and legal capacities to pursue this crime at the international level and bring the perpetrators to justice. Meanwhile, the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has refused to condemn the attack so far and called on the parties to exercise restraint, a recurring approach that Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif refers to as the double standard. The international community’s silence on the Israeli regime’s arbitrary and unilateral actions has led it to resort to the law of jungle. While Israel has closed the doors of its nuclear facilities to the IAEA inspectors under the pretext of securing them, no attempt has been made to hold the regime accountable for the past half-century.
The international institutions have turned a blind eye to the assassinations of Iranian nuclear scientists carried out by the Israel’s regime for more than a decade. Ten years ago, terrorist and sabotage attacks were carried out with the illusory idea of stopping Iran’s progress in the nuclear program under the allegation of countering Iran’s military nuclear program. History has demonstrated that the assassination of Iranian nuclear scientists and technical sabotage of Iran’s nuclear facilities not only failed to diminish the quality and quantity of Iran’s nuclear program, but also became its driving force. Based on this historical experience, which Israelis have not apparently learnt from it, the most senior US intelligence and security officials, as well as political figures and diplomats from different countries, admitted that the security of regions will not be provided by such terrorist acts.
